Most advice tries to say yes to one question: “Am I the real thing?” You're more capable than you think. Everyone feels this way. All true, and by morning the feeling is back.

Zeami asked a different question. He never said you are the real thing. He wrote:

命には終りあり、能には果てあるべからず。

Life has an end; the art must have none.

Kakyō, 1424. “The art” here is Noh. Read it as any craft you practice.
